Foster for a Rescue

Chatham County Animal Services does not have a foster program, however Foster Care Programs are a critical piece of lifesaving efforts. Foster parents help fill the gap between when the animal is brought to the Animal Services Shelter and when they are adopted. Foster parents can choose to foster a dog or cat that best fits in their family to help with socialization, basic training, or offer recuperation time for sick or injured pets before adoption. We need foster homes to help us save lives.

In hopes of saving as many pets as possible, Animal Services partners with various rescue groups who have foster programs to better serve our animal population. Listed below are rescue groups that welcome your assistance in the fostering our pets.

One Love Animal Rescue

Foster parents can choose to foster any dog or cat that fits in with their family’s home. When an animal is sick or injured and needs to recuperate, or just needs someone to teach them basic manners and training, foster parents help fill the gap between the time the animal is brought into the Animal Services and the time they are adopted.

Renegade Paws Rescue

Fostering is more flexible than adoption. It’s temporary, and you can choose how you do it. You might prefer to foster senior pets, special needs, or maybe only puppy litters during puppy season. Fosters are even needed for shorter periods, during health recovery or other foster vacations.

Humane Society Greater Savannah

The Humane Society’s foster program is a little different than foster based rescues and is mainly used for underage pets or pets recovering from medical treatment. Summer months see many kittens arrive at their adoption center and temporary foster homes are needed.

Coastal Pet Rescue

CPR started out in 2003 as a foster home only organization. While they do now have a small capacity shelter, about 75% of their pets still reside in foster homes. These families take the time to provide care and socialization for the pets and help make them ready for adoption. CPR pays for all medical and supply expenses

GRRR

Join GRRR today and help them save dogs and cats. They have a small dedicated group of foster parents and are looking for other passionate people to foster. GRRR will cover the cost and Foster parents furnish a safe environment and lots of unconditional love!
