Rehome your Pet with a Rescue

If you are a resident of Chatham County and can no longer care for your pet, talk to friends and family first - they may be able to help you through a short term issue. You may also contact the rescue groups below before you consider taking your pet to Chatham County Animal Services.

Here are a few tips to consider when you are thinking of rehoming your pet.

  • Take advantage of the veterinary assistance, food, shelter, supply and training resources listed on our Chatham 90 website. We want to help you keep your pet in your home where it is loved!

  • If you still need to rehome your pet - Don’t wait until the last minute to start looking for options! Rescues and shelters are often at capacity and you will significantly increase the odds of a positive outcome for your pet if you try multiple options and start early.

  • Don’t limit your options - list your pet in local online rehoming pages, talk to friends and family, contact multiple rescues - and do this all at the same time!
